Machine Specs and Router details.
Also, does your Router do the same thing with anything else?
And stop using Bittorrent to download all those illegal vids while playing GW and see if that helps.

The only way to do sensible diagnostics is to eliminate one of the variables. 'Guild Wars' doesn't seem very tolerant of other network applications running alongside it. Once you've elminated other traffic then you need to monitor your network traffic ( netstat -a at a command prompt ) and try some traceroutes to the ANet servers to see where the blockage is occuring.

Diplo, I am completely aware of the "process of elimination", and the original poster already said that this sometimes happens even when he is not using Bittorrent. Bittorrent is a variable, but it can be ruled-out as a direct cause.
I am having a similar problem to the original poster myself, and as in this thread many people were eager to blame me downloading in Bittorrent. That was until I found out that my ISP were having problems.

---------------------------IF YOU ARE USING A ROUTER----------------------------
If you are using a router, try updating the firmware for the router.
If that does not work, try plugging the ethernet directly from the modem to the computer.
If that does not work, try typing your IP address (IE: 192.168.0.1) into the address bar and configure the internet from there.
---------------------IF YOU ARE USING A MODEM-----------------------------------
If you are using a modem, try updating the firmware for the modem.
If your computer is new, make sure you have run the software that comes with your isp, dsl or cable, they all come with something.
If your modem comes equipped with a usb connection, try plugging in both of the connections, usb and ethernet, and see what happens.
Hope this helps

I'll admit I did read the Bittorrent thing incorrectly. I read it as though he had it on all the time. Must have been a hard day. Everything I was reading, wasn't as i read it. lol
As for trying to help you Principa, I won't even insult your intelligence by trying to help you as I know you know what you are doing.
To the OP, as you don't appeared to have replied yet, what are your system specs?
Could be why he isn't on, maybe his Network connection has fallen over all together.

One thing I've noticed with bittorrent, is that it takes quite a while if you kill it off, for the other clients to notice, I've had to in some cases cycle the power on my router to obtain a new IP number so that the packet storm ceases ...
I beleve the latest version allows you to throttle the upload speed, which also indirectly throttles the download speed as the clients you are "starving" will start to get huffy and cut down the speed at which you can download.
Personally I'd never have BT running while playing a game, unless it was offline ...

From my experience any networked application can cause problems with 'Guild Wars'. I've only had GW crash twice and both times were associated with another background application accessing the Net: The first time occured when I accidently left Outlook running in the background. As soon as Outlook accessed the Net to check for new mails it crashed GW. The second crash occured in similair circumstances, only this time it was my virus scanner checking for updates. I've never had this problem occur with any other game.
This is why I say don't run Bittorrent because it opens a huge number of simultaneous TCP and UDP connections. It might not be the only cause of crashes but I wouldn't rule it out as aggrevating them. I wouldn't even run Bittorrent before playing GW as you still get incoming connection requests long after the client has been stopped. In fact, I now don't run any other applications that access the internet when playing. This would be my first suggestion for eliminating problems - it may not be the only cause but it's a factor worth ruling out.

Which is why I suggested doing a tracert to the ANet servers so it can be seen where along the network the problem is occuring - if you're getting timeouts to their servers then you can at least see which network node/router is the culprit.

Will be interesting to try this theory out. Sounds logical and as I don't have any problems with my PC or the Game, other than the minor slowdown from last night, I'll give it a go. Just need to sort something out that will cause Internet Access while i'm playing the game.
I will post back with my results later.

In that case it must've been Bittorrent. Which client were you using?
